13-Aug-2006 -- All Mongolians think that it is good to see sunrise at the Mountain “ Shiliin Bogd” with an average altitude of 1173 m above see level and located 750 km away from Ulaanbaatar city in the south west.
Also it is said that one, who saw sunrise at Shiliin Bogd, boosts his spirit and is successful at every business. Thus we the family friends-team Erdene, Baigalmaa, Jigmedsanjaa, Enkhee, Oyuntsetseg, Ulziisaihan made a journey to Shiliin Bogd.
Although Shiliin Bogd is not so much high elevated mountain, it is the mountain which is highly respected by all Mongolians. After starting our trip to the mountain in the early morning, we turned our drive in order to discover a confluence point, which is our second goal. We have traveled for 35 km to Ganga Lake to the south west and found that there is the confluence point 45N 114E 30 km away from the lake in the south.
Some members of our team had opened the CP 48N 104E in the territory of Bulgan province in last year, so we have certain experience.
Since we started our trip to the CP 45N 114E for the first time, we drove toward the confluence through the wide steppe with the help of GPS. There were few families and cattle in our way to the confluence. Suddenly we saw 2 stone figures, the ancient historical heritage. These stone figures seemed as the guards of the wide steppe. However we worried that the confluence might locate near the boundary of Mongolia and China, fortunately it was in the territory of Naran soum, Suhbaatar province and 5-6 km slightly into the territory of Mongolia. Interestingly, two cattle breeders were passing the summer in the area just 50 m away from the confluence 45N 114E. We erected a pile of stones by explaining the reason and these families helped us and entertained lavishly with feasting dairy products that they had prepared.
We were so glad that one interesting part of our trip was to discover the confluence point 45N 114E. On the other hand we have confirmed that using GPS in such wide territory of Mongolia is extremely useful.
