20-Nov-2016 -- We reached Mrauk U on 19-Nov-2016 in the early afternoon after an 18 hour trip from Bagan. After we had found a guest house in Mrauk U, we explained the son of the owner of the guesthouse our purpose. Because he didn’t understand all of our purpose he called Mr. Aung Zan a local guide. With him we planned our trip for the next day.
Next morning we started around 7 o'clock after eating breakfast. We went by mini bus with the owner of the guesthouse and his son (who was also our guide) to Kyauktaw. On the way we also took two Philippine guest workers, who were responsible for the construction of mobile communication in the area.
Arrived at Kyauktaw a boat had been chartered already and we could start directly on the Kaladan river upstream. We previously saw on satellite photos that the confluence should be on the river itself. Shortly after the start our guide wanted to show us some villages on the river bank. After some talks with him and a phone call with Mr. Aung Zan he better understand what we want to do. But we had to promise that we don’t want to go to the Chin-State (we had no permission for that area). After about 3 hours on the river we reached the point relatively in the middle of the river and just before the border to the Chin State.
