06-Aug-2006 -- My wife and I were planning an outback trip along the Ann Beadell Highway and I noticed that it passes within a few kilometres of this confluence point, in South Australia's Tallaringa Conservation Park. I planned to visit this point.

As this point is off the Ann Beadell Highway I requested (and was granted) special permits to visit this area, in addition to the usual permits required to travel the Ann Beadell Highway.

We arrived in the area late morning on 5 August 2006, after having visited 29S 132E and 29S 133E the previous day!

Approaching the area from the west on the Ann Beadell Highway, after entering the dingo-free area we diverted onto the fence-line track that leads past Bell Bird Bore and Corkscrew Bore to Box Swamp Bore, where we parked the vehicle.

Sarah-Jane and I then set out on foot to the confluence point (accompanied by Kieran, our chocolate labrador), an easy round trip walk of about 3km. The terrain was flat with very firm smooth sand, sometimes stony, and vegetated with small shrubs and the occasional larger eucalypt.

After returning to the vehicle we conveniently rejoined the Ann Beadell Highway by driving north for just 3km or so. We then continued our trip east to Coober Pedy, thereby ending a lovely trip on the ABH and a successful swag of first-time visits to 4 confluence points.
