22-Apr-2022 -- My solo visit accompanied by my dog Jesse was carried out on a fine day rather late in the afternoon. This made my westerly pic a bit hard to see because of the low angle of the sun. The near area was looking quite fresh given the rains of the preceding month and the sheep graziers are feeling secure.
From Stirling North or Port Augusta, proceed to Warrakimbo road. This is a a well used dirt road running in a general North/South direction serving local sheep stations. Warrakimbo road runs parallel and to the west of a disused rail line and the adjacent Emeroo Range.
At point -31 58 27.8, 137 58 25.6 on Warrakimbo road you may go through a gate which is adjacent to a road grid. From this gate go cross country on a course of 138deg true and a distance of approx. 3.5km this will put you at the confluence of 32S 138E.
There are a few steep gutters from ephemeral streams to be navigated.
Do not go if the ground is wet since this country becomes impassable quickly when wet.
Hope you have a successful visit.
