17-Jan-2018 -- My final visit to a Degree Confluence Point during this brief vacation in South Australia was a repeat visit to this point. Almost 18 years ago, in March 2000, I made the first recorded visit to this point. (The only other visit - by Stephen and Fiona Langman - was more than 11 years ago.) I was looking forward to revisiting this point to get better photos, ‘all zeros’, and a drone’s-eye view.

When I reached the point, I was a bit disappointed, because I had remembered the point as being out in the open, on an old road bed. However, my previous visit was during the era of Selective Availability, when civilian GPS readings were deliberately degraded. It turns out that the point actually lies in scrub, just off the old road bed. The Langmans noted that some unknown previous visitor had left a hub cap at the point. This hub cap (from a Ford vehicle) was still there. (A few days ago, I also found a hub cap - this time from a Holden - at 34S 140E; perhaps the same unknown person was responsible for both - grumble...)
