#1: View of the confluence looking east

(visited by Rod Kevill, Sandra Kevill and John Kevill)

04-Oct-2004 -- This was day 4 of our 6-day touring holiday through the Gascoyne - Murchison region of Western Australia with my brother and his wife. We had already completed 3 successful visits (28°S 117°E, 27°S 117°E and 25°S 118°E) and were looking forward to the 4th, especially after our unsuccessful attempt at 25°S 117°E on Landor station.

We had travelled west from Landor station and arrived at Mooloo Downs at around midday, where we met Jim and Jenny Caunt who had just returned from the Gymkana at Gascoyne Junction. They were happy for us to use their station tracks to attempt the confluence visit, and Jim gave us detailed directions to Lane Bore which was about 1.5km from the confluence. We followed the track to the bore, and were able to proceed a little further before walking in the final 1.1km over undulating rocky ground, taking care to avoid the spiders and webs laced between the trees (see photo). The temperature had been rising steadily all morning and was around 38°C by the time we returned to the vehicles. I think Mariane had the right idea staying in the shade while Sandra, John and myself walked in to the confluence.

After the usual photo set, we headed back to the Cobra - Dairy Creek road and headed west to Gascoyne Junction and then Carnarvon and finally to Nanga Station where we were staying for 2 nights.
