(visited by Thomas Barthel)

09-Jul-2019 -- During our summer holidays in Canada, I took the chance to visit some confluence points. The story continues from 45°N 76°W visit #8.

After sightseeing at Ottawa we reached the area of the confluence point 46°N 74°W coming from south, passed Saint Hippolyte and took Chemin Du Lac Pilon to the right in Les Quatre Chemins. We passed Lac de Moulin and parked the car in the north east of Lac Pilon on the unpaved road, near the turn off of a woodland path leading to the CP. After 630 m walking this path I found a turn off to an abandoned quarry, at least in my opinion. Some meters later I reached a small lake on the way! For me it looked like done by beavers, but I am not sure. It is even to see on Google Earth! After I reached the other side after balancing over the dam. Later on this way I stood at the shore of the Lac Long with a turned fishing boat on the left side. I turned back and took my way into the brushwood, after 110 m from the shore. I walked to the right side, direction east. The GPS leads through a light woodland. Sometimes large, round, moss overgrown boulders made the hike more difficult. At the lowest point of the walk I found the exact confluence point, right next to a little creek. After some minutes of confluence dance I had the picture with the needed picture of all the zeros at 46°N and 74°W! After the successful visit I chose the same way back. On my way I reached the track at a turning loop with a campfire site on it.

Afterwards we continued our trip direction east, to visit the city of Québec.

The story continues at 48°N 69°W visit #2.
