17-Feb-2010 -- Steaming from Mobile (Alabama) to Beaumont (Texas) we are now rounding the Delta of the Mississippi River.
Southeast, well outside of the delta lies the Confluence 29N 89W.
As the delta is low and marshy, it is difficult to discern from this Confluence, but having a careful look we see the shore between the South Pass and the Pass a Loutre in the NW.
All here around is important oil exploitation area, and so the major attractions on this confluence are oilrigs. To the NE we see an oilfield with the platforms ARCO-SP-60-A and ARCO-SP-67-A. To SSE there is the platform BPE-MC-20-A. To SSW we see the platform MOI-SP-72-A. And to SW we can see already the Southwest Pass Area with platforms and a tanker loading crude oil on one of the oilrigs.
