25-Jan-2007 -- This confluence is located about 30 km south of Manokwari, main town of the Bird's Head Peninsula in the western part of New Guinea, the second biggest island of the world. Though most parts of this island are hard to get to, this CP is fairly easy to reach. As on my visit to 7°S 114°E I rented an ojek (motorbike taxi), which is a common form of transport in this area.
The road south along the coast leads through a sparsely populated area with mangrove swamps and fine views of the forested Arfak Mountains. After crossing a river two roads fork off to Warmare - an old and a new one. We missed the old road, the one which leads to the confluence. But we continued on to the next junction of these two roads and approached the confluence from the west. Later it turned out to be the better way, since coming from east the road is much steeper.
The confluence is just about 80 m from the road above a valley. Unfortunately it lies in the middle of the forest and without a machete it was impossible to reach the exact point.
A few 100 meters from the confluence you can find spectacular views of the river valley and the mountains.
