08-Jul-2006 -- I got up early in the morning at Shiwa Service Area on Tohoku Expressway.
It was only 55 kilometers to the target.
I passed Matsuo-Hachimantai Interchange and followed Route 282. I passed the nearest point, and U-turned at the 40N 141E monument based on Tokyo datum.
I could find a small path and parked my car.
My GPS indicated it was only 170 meters to the point.
I attacked the small hill at right side.
It was heavy bush of bamboo grass, about 1.5 meters high and I took 15 minutes to reach the zero point.
There was no special sign, and almost same view of all four directions.(pic #1-#4).
My GPS screen had good value of 40.00.00.1N and 141.00.00.2E.
On the way back to the car, I found a small trace direct to the starting point.
Appi, famous ski slope, was only 3 kilo meters away.
