07-Aug-2022 -- I’m in the last few days of my northeastern US vacation, before I drop my rental car off at Philadelphia airport and fly back to California. I’m not driving back to Philadelphia directly, however; instead, I’m taking a circuitous route, to try to visit several more Degree Confluence Points. My plan for today was to visit three points on the 80 Degrees West line of longitude - starting with this point, just southeast of the city or Erie, Pennsylvania.

Because I wasn’t equipped to go wading in a swampy creek (“LeBoeuf Creek”), I knew that I wouldn’t be getting ‘all zeros’ on this visit. Instead, I decided to step into the swamp just enough to register a successful visit, but then fly my drone over the point, to get a view of the exact location. On foot, I got to 94m (+/- GPS error of 1.8m) from the point, but took my ground directional photos from the wooden bridge, about 104m South of the point.

I admire the dedication of Bill Brown, who waded to the exact point during his visit 10 years ago.
