18-Jul-2016 -- We rented a cottage for a week on Lake Baptiste near Bancroft. From there it was a short drive to the point. There has been some development since the last visit and there are now houses equidistant to the north and south from the point – both about 350 metres from the point. According to the old Google Earth imagery both houses were built before 2010 but the 2009 photo is not clear for either.

As the previous visitor approached from the south, I decided to approach from the north. I parked at 45° 00.214’N 78° 00.311’W and walked up the driveway to the house. Nobody was home so I walked across the lawn and plunged down a steep slope off to the woodland. The terrain was not too difficult but very wet in places and fallen trees were common. At least there were no large honey-loving mammals and very few biting insects. After wading through a wide swampy “stream” and then a much drier area I came to the CP.

It looked very different from the earlier pictures – much regrowth and no signs of recent wood cutting. Just at the CP there was a strong smell of currants and sure enough I was standing in a wild currant bush. I took the pictures and retreated to the car. Fortunately the house owners were still out, or they have received a surprise to see my rather hot, wet, and dirty appearance from the forest.
