(visited by Targ Parsons and Zifeng Liu)

03-Jul-2008 -- Story continues from 34°N 111°E.

On our way SE from Lúshì, our bus passes by a small noodle-making shop, with the noodles hanging up to dry outside.

We get off the bus near the border between Nèixiāng County (内乡县) and Zhènpíng County (镇平县), at 33°2'6.5"N 111°59'16.6"E, just underneath a freeway overpass. The confluence is slightly more than 4 km SE. We set off on foot, following a straight, flat, cement road due south. At one point, we get a lift in the back of a tiny "truck" for about 1.5 km. Along the way, we stop to take a photo of some impressive gravestones. A nearby local proudly poses among them for the shot.

After about 4 km, we come to a small village at 32°59'48.6"N 111°59'14.9"E, and turn left (east), then follow a good dirt road the remaining 1.22 km directly towards the confluence. Just before reaching the confluence, we pass through a village where at least one household is in the white rabbit industry.

The confluence is less than 80 m north of the road. As with so many that we've visited on this trip, this one is also in a field that has recently had its crop of wheat harvested, and is now planted with corn. The terrain being so flat, it's easy to get another accurate GPS reading, with 3 m accuracy. The usual north-south-east-west photos are taken. On the way back, we stop in the village to ask some residents what it's called: Zuǒwā Village (左洼村).

Story continues at 33°N 113°E.
