22-Apr-2001 -- This confluence is located in the middle of a swamp just to the North of the Pea river, which is just North of the Florida/Alabama border. I plugged the coordinates into my GPS, and the pointer feature indicated that it was almost exactly North of where I live. Travelling without an atlas, I relied solely on my receiver and wound my way through the Florida countryside, past Ebro Greyhound Park, and finally arrived within 1/4 mile of my goal. I parked my truck on the side of the road, and began hiking through the swamp. To my benefit, we have been experiencing a drought as of recent, and the area was relatively dry. This made the travelling easier, as I only had to wade through water up to my knees. As for wildlife, I encountered one alligator, but it was the twenty or so mosquitos that sampled my blood, as the bites on my arms and legs can testify. I also came across a box turtle, and used her for a photo-op. Besides, I didn't think the gator would be agreeable and mosquitos take lousy pictures.
