05-Mar-2005 -- One week off, which means another week to explore the Empty Quarter! We planned to go to the Ḥibak dunes, with more than 200 m from tip to toe most likely the highest dunes in Saudi Arabia. On the way to the dunes we found 3 Confluences not yet submitted, 22N 52E, 22N 53E, and 21N 53E, and back to Riyāḍ another one, 21N 52E.

The first day while driving in a very bushy area we got a nice surprise: rain in the sand desert. Some days later the rain water caught us in a nice bowl. Andrew will report the situation a little bit more detailed.

The area around 22N 52E was quite flat. Just before we got close to the Confluence, the dune lines started. One camel couldn't make it out of here. But we rather tried to be active and powerful like the camel spider.

If you take the link to Frieder's Confluence 22N 53E, you will get closer to the Ḥibak dunes.
