02-May-2009 -- This is the 62nd of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 14S 32E.
Today we entered South Africa from Botswana at Martin's Drift and we took the N11 to Mokopane (previous Potgietersrus); several km from the Confluence we turned off towards Mashashane. This road bypasses the Confluence by 800 meters.
We parked the car and as we wanted to start walking to the Confluence, it started to rain. As we walked the rain got stronger and stronger and we had difficulties to get a good reading. Somehow we managed to find the Confluence.
By the time we returned to the cars we were thoroughly soaked through. We had to change into dry clothes and shoes as well.
