17-Dec-2005 -- NAGECO (North African Geophysical Exploration Company) works in the seismic industry as a geophysical seismic sub contractor to the main oil companies that work in Libya. The confluence team that recorded this point works with NAGECO Crew 201.

We had been working west of confluence point 28N 20E the day before and had visited confluence point 28N 19E, so it was a good opportunity to visit 28N 20E on the route back to our base camp.

The area around the confluence point was populated with sand dunes, which were a welcome change from the flat gravel plains we had been in for so long. It was 9 in the morning and the sun was still quite low in the sky, so the shadows on the dunes were able to define their shapes perfectly.

The area can be described as being on the western edge of the Libyan Sand Sea, which extends all the way to the Egyptian border. This was the way in for the Long Range Desert Patrol Group during the Second World War and more information on a related discovery by the NAGECO crew can be found on the 28N 19E confluence point web page.
