28-Jul-2002 -- This confluence is in Port Wells in Prince William Sound, Alaska, USA. It may be the most visited confluence in Alaska. Though many passing this point may not be aware of this fact.
This confluence is routinely visited by the many sea otters that call Port Wells and College Fiord home. Also passing this point are thousands of salmon heading to the Coghill River, Dall porpoises, seals, killer whales and icebergs that have calved from the Harvard and Yale Glaciers. Many humans also cross or come close to this confluence in pleasure boats, commercial fishing boats and sea kayaks. But most humans pass this point in floating cities - cruise ships. So though fairly remote, this confluence has a lot of unknowing visitors.
Picture 1 shows the mountains to the east in their normal state - cloaked in clouds. Picture 2 is looking north up College Fiord with Coghill Pt protruding out into the bay. A shot of my Garmin GPSMAP 188 Sounder is shown in picture 3 just as we passed the confluence. Picture 4 shows a view towards Pakenham Point with the "floating city" that I referred to above.
