10-May-2007 -- We left at the crack of dawn. Motor bikes (Honda CRF 450X and XR 250F) and supplies were loaded on to the truck at our farm about 130 km away. GPS was dialed in with coordinates of the Confluence.

We set off towards Chegutu where we left the vehicle at Bryden school and proceeded on the motorbikes.

Having entered Chegutu we took the Chakari road (NW),turning right past Amewa mission farm. A few km after that we turned right on a small dirt road, which narrowed to a footpath after we had passed a gold stamp mill in the bush. This area is gold rich and a lot of digging and panning goes on.

The path was taking us towards the Mupfure River and took us within 80 m of the Confluence. We rode through the bush right to the site. It's a picturesque area surrounded by rugged hills, very wild. We encountered a troop of baboons while we were there.
