#1: View from the confluence towards the south

(visited by Jan-Hendrik May and Gary Correa Figueroa)

10-Jul-2005 --

Our visit started in Santa Cruz, a day earlier, and was part of a longer field work campaign in the Bolivian Chaco, where I had been doing research for my PhD in Geography (University of Bern).

Gary ("Recon-1) and I had gone by jeep, camping the night at "Aguas Feas", a beautiful seasonally flooded depression in the Bolivian Chaco. Next morning we departed towards the south where a small trail leads to an isolated cattle ranch. Following our GPS, we figured that our trail passed the confluence at only several hundred meters distance. Given the thorny shrubs of the Chaco, it took us half an hour to get to the confluence, and we probably wouldn't have made it without the good old machete.

Finally there, the view wasn't exactly breathtaking (see pictures), little space, some cacti, shrubs and at least some shadow... anyway, we had made our first confluence :-))
