#1: West view from the confluence.

(visited by Jim Hodge, Fred Hodge and Julie Jensen)

23-Dec-2002 -- I hadn't done any confluences for a year so when I visited my parents at Julia Creek my Father Fred decided that we should do a bit of exploring. He had to get a load of sand for a bit of cementing so we took off in his landcruiser fairly early in the morning.

The confluence was on 'Debella' station so when we finally got there after a 100 odd km drive on a smooth road we went to the station owner who was a little confused as to why 2 otherwise sane men should wish to do that. Even the thought of her place becoming a tourist mecca was of some concern, but I assured her that after we visited the confluence it was quite unlikely anyone else would be keen to do it.

Everyone being happy, Julie Jensen was quite happy to come with us to the point, which was nearly on a cattle track and became a nice easy drive to confluence.

I forgot to check the altimeter but it was about 140 metres in the near area. We were all done taking a few photos by 08:15 and it was time to get sand.
