21-Feb-2010 -- I have wanted to visit this confluence for 8 years and finally organised a few friends to make the trip. Cameron Single and Jeremy Lodge are training for the upcoming XPD in Cairns so we planned a hiking/training adventure from the northern tip of the Redcliffe tableland across the top and down to the confluence point.
It was a 6km hike through some thick vegetation only to be met with shear cliff faces before we could reach the confluence. Eventually we found a point that we could climb down to the plains below to reach our target. The Redcliffe tableland is an impressive land form about 42km’s long and 12km’s wide at it’s widest, with rocky cliffs surrounding most of the perimeter. The cattle grazing plains surrounding the tableland were green and lush following good recent rainfall. This was our first confluence visit but it won’t be our last.
