03-Jun-2006 -- The visit to this confluence point was coincidental. Me and Ria were in Botswana to visit our property we just acquired in Ghanzi. On short notice we decided to go camping for 3 days on the game farm of a friend bordering the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.
Our route took us from Ghanzi north on the tarred A2. We passed through the Kuke Gate and immediately turned east. The road is a single sand track that runs along the veterinary fence. This fence consists of two fences with a 50 m wide corridor in between to stop the spread of cattle diseases from north to south.
We averaged 55 km/h along this track and stopped after 30 km to have some lunch. I was studying the map when I realized that this Confluence was close to the road and only a another 24 km ahead. I marked it as a waypoint and continued with the journey. We got to within 182 m from the Confluence with the car and started walking through knee high grass towards the Confluence. It is typical Kalahari bushveld after the good rains of the summer.
At 13:05 we reached the Confluence and to our surprise we determined that the Confluence coincides with a game fence! I could not get a well focused shot of the GPS and due to the ever presence of lion and leopard in the area we decided not to spend too much time there.
We continued to our camp site which was another 44 km to the East and encountered many Gemsbok, Giraffe, Jackal, Steenbok and Kudu along the road.
