#1: View of the confluence looking south-east

(visited by Rod Kevill, Sandra Kevill, John Kevill and Mariane Kevill)

24-Sep-2005 -- This trip was another excuse to go "camping in the outback" and after much deliberation, we thought we'd try for S24 E119 and S26 E121 because we only had three days for the trip and access looked to be fairly easy. Sandy and I left Perth on Friday afternoon and camped at the abandoned townsite of Nannine, just south of Meekatharra.

The next morning, we met up with my brother John and his wife Mariane in Meekatharra, then headed north through Kumarina and out to Bulloo Downs station, arriving just before the start of the AFL Grand final between the Eagles and the Sydney Swans. Richard Hall was most helpful with advice on appropriate tracks, and we were on our way within a few minutes, leaving Richard and his family to enjoy the footy!

We followed the track out to Perry Spring (see photo), then continued off-road to within about 2km of the confluence point. A short walk down the broad sands of Perry Creek brought us to the confluence. I took the usual photos, and we returned to the vehicles. We called in to Bulloo Downs to let Richard know that our mission was a success, and he gave us the sad news that the WA team, the West Coast Eagles, had lost the grand final by just 4 points!

We proceeded back to Kumarina, then south to the turnoff to Wiluna, and camped for the night a few kms east of Great Northern Highway.
