28-Apr-2007 -- We had spent the previous night at the Nindigully pub. I didn't know it at the time but it happens to be the longest continuously licensed pub in Australia. There were free showers there and with the rain and cool weather they worked a treat for us. Sadly we had to abandon our plans for 28S 149E as the rain would have made the dirt roads to go near there impassable.
Driving West the conditions did improve and we were glad to make this one. All we had to do was drive a couple of kilometres South of the Balonne highway at a determined spot and the rest was a piece of cake. The confluence is on flat terrain again but this time it was in a field peppered with lovely looking clumps of golden spinifex. My wife and one of my daughters joined me for this one
