14-Nov-2008 -- We were on a trip through Mauritania in November 2008 with 7 cars. After the long driving from home to the Mauritanian border, our first point of interest was the National Park Banc d'Arguin south of Nouadhibou. Many birds from Europe stay there during winter time. It is a very nice place.
The confluence point is inside the National Park. Since wild camping is not allowed in the park, we stayed just outside the park for the night. The confluence point was only five kilometers away, so we quickly went there before dawn. The terrain is not difficult, so it was an easy nice driving.
After visiting the National Park we headed down to Nouakchott along the beach. From there we went along the old route to Atar. Then we went into the near hills east of Atar, visiting also Chinguetti and Ouadane, and then we followed the Mauritanian-Moroccan border along the iron ore railway back to the customs to Morocco.
