28-Feb-2007 -- The confluence point 27N 19E lies convieniently near the piste between Zilla and Tāzarbū. The countryside is flat from horizon to horizon with nothing worth to be mentioned nearby.
We had our 3 Land Rovers filled up with diesel and water in Zilla, then camped after 80 km and passed the 'interesting black mountain' (so named on the Michelin map) on the approach at km 115 in the morning. Actually only beeing a small rocky hill, this structure is not really interesting but by far the only landmark in the area. 225 km from Zilla we arrived at the confluence location around 1 p.m. which turned out to be a bad time for taking pictures. The camera had problems to find a focusing point in the glaring light, so I have to apologise for the lacking sharpness of the pics.
This was the first confluence visit on our trip and it took some time to explain the game to Absi, the Arabic speaking policeman who accompanied us. We ecpected him to declare us mad for leaving the clearly visible piste, then stopping in the middle of nowhere, taking pictures, and erecting a wooden pole. To my surprise he understood quickly and became a passionate confluence hunter in the remaining 2 weeks.
