02-Oct-2015 -- Driving north from Las Cruces, I turned off I-25 onto a long gravel road, heading north. At 33.00520°N 107.00959°W, I turned right onto Aleman Road, which passes just 0.25 miles from the Confluence Point.
This is a typical 'Western US Desert Degree Confluence Point’: Sandy soil, on flat terrain, with little growing except sagebrush. I recall visiting at least a dozen points that look a lot like this one. There are wide vistas in all directions. A farm house is visible just to the south.
Afterwards, I continued driving eastwards to the gates of “Spaceport America”, which is planned to the be the future base for commercial "Virgin Galactic" flights. Unfortunately, there’s currently no visitors’ center there; the only way to tour the base is to take a tour (by bus from the nearby town of Truth or Consequences). So I had to settle for a telephoto image from near the entrance gates.
