#1: Corvo, seen from the Confluence

(visited by Captain Peter)

05-Apr-2012 -- Underway with 27,600 tons of steel products from Antwerpen in Belgium to Brownsville, TX today we passed the confluence 40N 31W, which is about 17 nautical miles (31 km) NNE of Corvo, the northernmost and smallest island of the Azores Archipelago.

South of Corvo we see the island of Flores.

Unfortunately today’s visibility was not too good, as we were approaching the center of a low pressure in the West. However, from a passage a month ago I can attach better pictures and taken from a closer distance, in order you can see the beauty of Corvo.

Corvo is an extinct volcano. It’s NE tip is called Canto da Carneira, and Flores can be seen in the background.
