29-Apr-2001 -- I heard about the confluence idea from friends. They are busy to visit spots in Austria and Australia. Since my job temporarily struck me to South Italy I am eager to do some visits in this area which is/was still unaffected by this idea.
After I finished my Sunday morning duty I headed north from TARANTO towards
RUTIGLIANO, a small town close to BARI. I entered Rutigliano via SP179 off
SS100. I was afraid that the spot would be situated somewhere in the housing
area of southern Rutigliano. But it turned to be very easy. The confluence
was just beside the road SS634 from BARO to CONVERSANO passing RUTIGLIANO
about 1 km to the south.
Mainly surrounded by small vineyards (typical for this region - picture #3)
the spot itself could be determined within a partly finished compound just
~5m from the road (picture #1). I met 2 young Rutigliano’s (picture #2)
Paolo & Marco – unfortunately I lost their address by a following break down
of my Handspring Visor which I also use as GPS base module (picture #4).
Also olive trees and palms may be seen close to the place (picture #5) as
well as many house ruins. Flowers are typical for PUGLIA and the season
(picture #6).
Since this place was so easy to trace I continued to 41°N16°E and had to
acknowledge that this confluence needs more efforts and I finally was halted
by sunset.
