06-Oct-2001 -- Out in the absolute middle of nowhere beyond swamps and over,
under and through multiple fences is a muddy rut in the middle
of a hay field that goes across the confluence of 42N and 99W.
There are surely better ways to get there than the long
and arduous path I took. Along the way I crossed a wide gravel
driveway that would have taken me a mile or so closer and
leaving the site I saw two hunters who might have parked
even closer still. There were many cows, alive and dead.
Three white tail deer and numerous prairie chicken. The way
to the site took me over more hills than I thought were
in Nebraska and the way back (across the valleys) took me
through more swamps than I have seen outside of Alabama.
The round trip of 6 miles, as the crow flies, took me around
four hours. No wonder no one has visited this site before.
