08-Jul-2003 -- On a perfect summer day we eschewed the comfort of the cabin near Lac St. Marie for bushwhacking. The confluence seemed easier in summer than winter as was the previous attempt.
A map showed a gravel road leading very near to our destination. It intersected with a cleared area under the power lines where we began our walk amongst seasonal flora (and weeds). We shared this path with the deer for 1or 2 kms. Eventually we entered the forest and climbed over and under the dense brush.
We bushwhacked for less than a kilometer and along the way found a dilapidated trapper’s cabin. But eventually had success, coming within meters of the confluence.
