02-Sep-2006 -- During a trip from the Netherlands via Germany, Poland, Ukraïne and Russia to Kazakhstan and back (a total distance of more than 14.000 km - approx 9000 miles - in five weeks) by car I was able to visit two confluence Points. The other one being 47N 72E.
Being part of a group of 4x4 enthusiasts I could not plan any visit because I was not sure or I would have the time and opportunity to visit one of the points in Kazakhstan.
At a certain moment, having different interests, the group was temporarily split into two parts. Our group made a cross-country trip and that enabled me to visit this point as first ever.
It's a barren area. No soul to find in a radius of maybe 160 km (100 miles). As you can see it is flat area. Hardly any vegetation, like most of Kazakhstan. It's dry area, very dry. No river or stream at all.
View in every direction is the same.
Apparently this area is part of a former missile test-range. We saw many shells laying around, that looked like parts of rockets. Some looked like made of aluminum or titanium, others like fiberglass. They all looked old. Nevertheless we got a bit worried, leaving that area as soon as possible.
