#1: The confluence point lies in fallow ranchland, among long grass. (This is also a view to the West.)

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

04-Aug-2024 -- After my failed attempt to reach [50,-114] earlier in the day, I drove through the small town of Fort McLeod, and then continued Northeast to visit this ‘forgotten’ Degree Confluence Point - last visited by Dave Atkinson in June 2000, more than 24 years ago.

I parked on the long gravel road that passes 1.1km South of the point, and hiked through long grass and across small, undulating hills. Unfortunately the point itself is rather boring - it lies in fallow ranchland, filled with long dry grass. (24 years ago, Dave Atkinson reported that the point lay directly on a fenceline; now, however, there is no fence close to the point.) The views all around - except towards the West, where there’s a small ravine - are all about the same. Perhaps this point deserves to be forgotten for another 24 years.
