#1: View east to the CP (no land, only the sea)

(visited by Peter Scharfenberg)

23-Jul-2006 -- Sunday, July 23rd, 3.30 p. m. we left Aasiaat/Egedesminde by the Disko-line ship “Najaaraq Ittuk“ (#6) with the destination Qeqertarsuaq/Godhavn at Disko, Greenland’s largest island. Ca. 5.00 p. m. we passed the nearest position to CP N69/W53 along the route of the ship. Here the confluence point (CP) was nearly 9 km into east direction (#1), where no land was visible. Consequently, this deviation has negligible effects for the photos #1 to #4. View north (#2) shows the contours of the Disko island over a distance of 40 km. If the camera would “look” somewhat more to N or NE, the islands on the left of #2, namely Kronprinsens Ejland, could no longer be seen. The view south (#3) goes back to the islands Hunde Ejland (distance 15 km) as well as Aasiaat/Egedesminde. Only the view west (#4) may vary with the distance along N69, but this could be compensated by the specific lens of the camera.

For geographical details see the 1: 250 000 map “Saga map No. 11 Qeqertarsuaq”.
