06-Sep-2004 -- Continued from 41N 34E.
In September 2004 Cenci and I decided to visit 40N 40E in eastern Anatolia. We started by car in Hamburg and drove through the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia/Montenegro and Bulgaria. After a 3500 km ride we finally reached 40N 40E, but on our way we took the chance to visit some other DCPs in Turkey, too.
The second of them was 41N 35E. We arrived on the spot just before sunset and it was only a little stroll off the main road through fields and plantations. Hunting for the right spot, we attracted the attention of Arif Kesgin, a farmer who is growing peaches nearby.
Though our Turkish is rather bad, we managed to explain that we were looking for the confluence point. Arif lead us to a large stone with an engraved cross that marks the official place but our GPS identified the point to be some 20 meters west of it. After taking the necessary pictures we were invited for tea and snacks and had a wonderful evening - Thanks, Arif!
