17-Apr-2005 -- My longest confluence trip: By car 3 km to the airport express train station for a 45 km ride, Oslo-Copenhagen-Seattle (8356 km) by plane, then rental car down I5 to Kelso/Longview and across the Columbia river, a bit west, and then Apiary road south to the logging road that my maps indicated would get me closest to the point (211 km). Total distance so far: 8615 km!

Followed the (in places very rocky) logging road for a few km, until I got to a junction where I could turn the car around. I had read the previous visitors' narratives, so I realized that I could probably follow it further, but at this point it was getting to be very bumpy, so I put on my running shoes and track suit, then started jogging along.

The road makes a couple of wide turns, but in the end I discovered that there was another road junction almost on top of the point itself: I could have driven all the way there if I had a car with higher clearance!

At this point sunset was geting really close, the rain showers threathened to move back in (it rained again 3 minutes after I got back on Apiary road), and I had been on the move for 18 hours, so I spent just 5 minutes trying to get all zeroes on the GPS.

Partly due to the fading light I didn't quite manage to get a photo of it, but a close check of my track log shows that I did pass both over and around the actual point.

The next day I visited 45°N 123°W.
