18-Jul-2005 -- My friends Gunhild and Lennart Pettersson invited me to Alvesta to Gunhild´s birthday party on July 15th. So I took the train from Boliden and was picked up by Lennart at Alvesta railway station. Gunhild and Lennart own a modified fishing boat, so if the weather was to be good, there might be a chance of going to 56N x 15E in Hanö Bay. But the weather was windy, and the party great, so there wasn´t any chance. Since I stayed a few days and could borrow Gunhild’s car, I instead visited 57N x 15E on Monday July 18. I drove through Växjö to Lake Innaren at road 23. About 2 km northeast of Innaren camping, there were two gravel roads leading approximately in the right direction. I took the northern one, turned left after some 500 m and then arrived in an open area with large gravel heaps. I parked the car and walked 200 m further, turned left (north) into a dirt road. After another 200 m I was 70 m from the confluence and walked trough the forest, across some outcropping rock and found the confluence in a small swampy area. Elevation is 183 m according to the GPS.

On the way back I took a photo 65 m NW of the confluence, where some trees had fallen in the devastating storm Gudrun, that hit south Sweden on January 8th and turned over some 70 million cubic metres of wood, and caused severe damage to electric power lines, telecommunications, roads and railways. The amount of wood fallen corresponds to one year´s cuttings in all of Sweden. People were isolated at some places for several weeks, without electricity or telephone. Many timber trucks were transporting wood that had been taken out of the forests with all of the heavy machinery that Sweden could get to the area, and still this day much of uncleared storm-wrecked areas could be seen.
