27-Jul-2005 -- John and I had been traversing the "dog fence" which is the longest man made structure in the world, designed to keep the "Dingo's" on one side and the sheep safe and sound on the other... during our trip along the dog fence which started in South Australia some twenty three days previously we had captured three confluences this one being our third and yes..this confluence is also on the Dog Fence, we'd had an enforced stay in Coober Pedy (the side window of the truck was smashed by a misplaced log and the replacement had to come from Melbourne!! and a grandson was born in Perth; we met some of the wonderful people that maintain and patrol the fence in what are in most cases harsh, isolated conditions and seen the most beautiful wildlife Camels, eagles, emu's, Kangaroos and yes.... lots of dingo's to name just a few. We always feel really fortunate to be able to spend time out in the bush but sometimes it does become quite arduous, for example, we spent the night before we captured this confluence beating off a swarm of mosquito's and I have to tell you the mosquito coils didn't quite cut it out there!! but despite the discomfort we plan to be out there again come August 2006.
