09-Jan-2006 -- Having spent our Christmas (Russian orthodox) vacation at Kankarijarvi lake, we usually bought food either in Kühnio or in Parkano. Parkano is just that place where the discribed point is. Again (as it was when we visited the point N63E23) we were confused by Tommi Leino's info. He wrote that “the exact CP location is 4km away from the city, in the middle of a forest”. Right near the doors of “S-Market” where we made our shopping I looked at the GPS screen and discovered that the CP is 850m far from here! Moreover, there was a road in the proper direction.

We soon drove down this road and found ourselves in the middle of the village (or city block), in a net of little streets. Indeed all the houses were surronded by a forest. Having turned round and round we achieved the CP with 16 meters accuracy! While still in the car! As I remember, the name of street was Tuomenhara.

The exact CP location was at the forest edge. There was an unfinished building nearby. Is it possible that this entire district was developed since 2001? I don't believe my GPS can suddenly show wildly wrong coordinates, particularly since it matched exactly at N62E24, which we visited the day before.

09-Jan-2006 -- Проводя рождественские каникулы на Конкариярви, мы покупали продукты либо в Киньо, либо в Паркано. Именно в Паркано и находится искомая точка. Опять же (как и при посещении точки N63E23) мы были дезориентированы Томми Лейно, который утверждал, что точка находится «посреди леса». Прямо у дверей S-Market, где мы покупали продукты, я бросил взгляд на экран GPS и обнаружил, что до точки 850 метров! Более того, от магазина в нужную сторону уходила дорога.

По ней то мы вскоре и отправились. Покружившись между домами, которые, впрочем, действительно окружены лесом, мы оказались в 16 метрах от точки, то есть подъехать можно на машине. Улица, кажется, называлась Tuomenhara.

А сама точка ровно на опушке. Рядом недостроенное строение какого-то промышленного здания. Неужели все так поменялось с 2001 года? А то, что мой GPS не врет, косвенно подтверждается точным совпадением места точки N62E24, которую мы посетили накануне.

Coordinator's Note: Tommi's narrative from the first visit describes finding a 'stick in the ground', this is the usual way to mark a new development boundary. I.e. the suburb have grown up around the confluence during the last 5 years.
