I visited this confluence with fellow geodasher Doug Millar. I was in town for a business trip and this visit would only be a short distance out of the way.

We approached from the east along US275 and turned south onto an unmarked dirt road into the Black Island Wildlife Management Area. We parked at the end of the road parking lot and had an enjoyable walk on a path that led almost all the way to the zeropoint. Along the way, we passed a dilapidated old windmill. When we got closer, we had to cross a dry marshy area to the north of the path and into some taller trees to get to the exact spot. I’m glad that it was not wet or in the middle of the growing season – either condition would have made a visit to this confluence much more challenging!

It was Doug’s first confluence and another great GPS adventure!
