08-Apr-2006 -- Day 3: 11N 124E is Raul’s sole confluence, my brother’s. I wanted to try a different route to reach the confluence by going to the Guadalupe side. The route avoided the main concrete highway to Bogo but instead went in the direction of Tabogon and traveled parallel to the main highway to Bogo. It was a 20-kilometer route of dusty limestone road but at its nearest point, the confluence was only 1 kilometer directly west of this road. While my brother started his hike eastward at La Paz side from the main highway and it was about 1.6-kilometer hike. With the help of a resident young man, Sonny, it was an easy hilly walk to the confluence spot, which happened to be in the corn farm of a relative. All we did was a leisurely 25-minute hike. We proceed with our journey to Cebu City but not without stopping & climbing the 150 steps shrine of the Virgin Mary at La Paz, Bogo and a quick dip in the waters of Liloan Beach. It could have been a perfect journey except for the tire blowout just few kilometers from Raul’s house, our stopover for three days of this journey. We completed the trip during the Holy week by crossing from Labogon, Mandaue City to Hindang town near Baybay in the southern part of Leyte and droved again to our 2nd home in Matobato, Calbayog City. We spent the rest of the Holy Week here. On April 17th we completed the journey back home to Pasig City via Bicol and Quezon, the longest non-stop leg of the trip of about 600 kilometers in 11 hours. We completed the “Visayas-Southern Luzon Tour” by traveling by land for 2,060 kilometers and by 7 ferry boat crossings in 12 days inclusive of 3 vacation days in Cebu and 5 vacation days in Matobato, Calbayog City, Samar.
