13-May-2006 -- This Confluence is the second nearest one to where I live but I have never got around to visiting it. However some friends had hired a coach to take us on a day trip to ‘classy’ Skegness for my 30th Birthday. To get from Leicester to Skegness you almost go straight to this spot so it would be rude not to make a little detour, besides I was the birthday boy so what I say goes!!

I had a word with the coach driver and although he must have thought I was weird he was up for it.(I had done extensive research on the spot so we could go straight to it no messing.)

We parked up in the ideally sited layby at Kelsey bridge and we all got out for a group photo. We set off along the footpath along the north bank of the Cowbridge drain. The field was muddy and the long grass at the edge which we had to walk on was wet and soaking into our trousers and shoes so half the gang turned back. Five of us more adventurous ones continued on to the spot and I got the photos needed.

I took the photos with a mobile phone camera but you can still make out the ‘all zeros’ on the GPS. I took a photo of the brave fellow confluencers too (from L-R: Michelle, girlfriend Dawn, Mat and brother Chris.)

In the space of ten minutes we were all back in the coach and continuing on our way to ‘Skeggy’! The bagging of the point and my big 3 0 was celebrated in style all day and long into the night and I was teased about my odd hobbies!!
