18-Feb-2001 -- I got a kick out of the fact that my topo maps for the region, which were printed 20 years ago (but newly purchased!), still seem to be accurate as far as the streets are concerned. Once at the tiny country town of Cassilis, turn right off Llangollen Rd into Racecourse Road - the confluence is about a kilometre down Racecourse Road, about 120m off on the southern side. To get within 100m, I had to climb over a locked gate. This brought me to within about 50m. To get any further I would have had to negotiate a barbed wire fence, and I decided enough was enough and stopped at the fence (yeah yeah - boo hiss yourself! ;).
When I first got out of the car, and had started to groan at the thought of climbing over the fences, a pleasant (mostly) sounding bird joined me, although I never actually got to see the bird. I decided to record it with my PDA - you can download the WAV file here.
In photo 2, I presume that the owner of the farm lives in that farmhouse way off in the distance, to the left of the fence (yes, that feeble looking fence is the one which stood between me and the string of zeroes).
I stopped at Pearsons Lookout on the way (between Lithgow and Mudgee) - see photo 6.
