02-Jul-2000 -- Hey! I got the first confluence in New South Wales!
Vladas and I drove up in to the Blue Mountains outside of Sydney, and decided
that it would be more expedient to do the confluence on the way home, instead
of on the way up. Doh!
We got the timing all messed up, and arrived at the confluence after the sun
had set. In case anyone wants to try it in daylight, it is on Map 311 of the Sydney
street guide. Take Heathcote Road (rt 7) to Holsworthy. After you cross
Deadman's Creek (you gotta love that name!), the road goes due south, and about
midway down the southerly run, you arrive within a couple of hundred yards. Just
below the confluence is Mill Creek, which flows into Georges River, which drains
into the infamous Botany Bay.
The pictures are not terribly exciting, since it's well after sunset. But is was a
fun drive!
