(visited by Justin Mills and Conrad Smith)

29-Aug-2006 -- Whilst on a business trip in Tunis, I checked up on the DCP website to see if there where any Confluences in the area that had not been done - and 36N 9E had not! Not believing my luck I convinced Conrad Smith (DCP initiate) to join me to complete the Confluence. The trip from Carthage Airport, Tunis to the Confluence was scenic and took us through the towns of: Majāz al-Bāb, Tabursuq, Dougga, Sīdī Bū Ru'ays, and finally al-Sars. From there it was a simple drive on a well maintained tarmac road to within 2.2 km where we turned onto a dirt road and proceeded towards the Confluence.

We had to get out of the vehicle and walk/scramble the last one hundred meters as a small ravine terminated our approach. The short distance was covered relatively quickly and we took the necessary photographs and returned to the vehicle.

When leaving the site, we noticed some ruins that in our excitement and haste had missed en route to the Confluence. We stopped to investigate and took position (35°59'41.1"N 9°01'26.0"E) and photographs. We had no idea about the existence of these ruins or their origin but surmise that they maybe Roman(?).
