05-Oct-2006 -- We were in the Research Triangle for business and decided to try going for the confluence although it has been visited before. It was my first confleunce that had been previously visited and Halldors first ever. We decided to try for it on the Wednesday after our business engagments were finished at around 17:00. We had a drive of about 30 minutes. We arrived at Taproot Lane but we were not comfortable with going from there although it was the shortest distance by foot because of the houses and unclear borders of the lawns. We were running out of time because daylight was fading and we had engagments at 19:30. So we decided to abort.
The day after we were back a little bit earlier and decided to go from Kerley Road this time. We found a good place to park and headed into the woods. It was very interesting to us to walk in this environment coming from Iceland and hardly seen a real forest before. Although it is not far from human habitation it felt very quiet and remote. We successfully arrived at the confluence at 18:00. We really enjoyed the trip only regretting not seeing any animals apart from lot of spiders.
