23-Sep-2006 -- This confluence was supposed to be the second for the day, but to no avail. We had previously successfully visited 20°S 121°E off the Kidson Track, and had driven north on the Great Northern Highway to Nita Downs. I had earlier requested permission to use the station tracks, and we had turned off east on an excellent track heading towards a small hill called Parda Hill.
However, the track swung towards the south, bringing us to within about 5km from the confluence, and we were unable to locate another track which would have led us to within about 400m of the point. Driving cross country was out of the question since we were travelling in just one vehicle, and the vegetation was just dense enough to hide the numerous anthills. And we felt 38°C was a little too hot to walk 10km.
So we reluctantly turned around and headed north to Roebuck Roadhouse where we stayed the night, hopeful of an early start to tackle 18°S 123°E.
