03-Jan-2007 -- After considering that confluence for a while, we finally decided to try a visit, in a nice summer sunday.

As we noticed by investigating satellite images, the place is located within a "U" formed by the Camaquã river, which might be the reason why no one had managed to visit it yet. With that in mind, we prepared for a wet visit, getting a pair of kayaks with us.

We drove about 100km to get close to the confluence place, and then tried to find the land owner for a while, without success.

After giving up on the that, we then found a place that would provide us access to the river. We went through some kind of sand exploration company, where they happily let us go in.

When we tried to get close to the river, we almost got stuck in the sand (the place is shown in one of the pictures), but luckily Claudio managed to take us out of there.

After that we decided that it'd be more prudent to go on through the river, with the kayaks, and that's how we moved on.

We went downstream for about 50 minutes, going all around the "U", since the other side was closer to the confluence place. That was a very pleasant part of the trip. Just the nature and ourselves, going on with almost no effort.

How surprised we were when, precisely in the place we had planned to go inland, there was a person fixing something in the property, accompanied by his dog. He was Vitor Luiz, the land owner! What a coincidence.

Vitor was very friendly, and was glad to follow the GPS with us up to the confluence point, about 700m inland.

Returning to get the kayaks was no trouble. The actual "problem" started when we started the trip back by the river. We had to paddle for about one hour and a half in a frenetic rhythm, to be able to go upstream back to the place we got in. Sometimes we could notice that, even though we were paddling wildly, looking at the margin and at the GPS would reveal that we weren't moving.

When we finally reached the car, we were in a state that could be described as a mixture of exhaustion and satisfaction, as may be seen in the picture where Claudio is seen with the kayaks.

Driving back home was no problem. What a day we had!
