03-Feb-2007 – It became a tradition in our small Lviv bike community to visit confluences in winter. This time it was the last non-visited confluence in Volyn'ska oblast' [region] and the last one in all western Ukraine.

We started to plan this trip in November 2006 but snowless and wet winter beginning shifted our plans to February.

We departed from Lviv at 00:30 and arrived in Lutsk at 5:30. It started snowing. We moved into the railway station building to wait for our next transport – local train – and of course to prepare our bicycles for a trip. There was already lots of snow on the ground and that was to the better. It took a little more than an hour in a local train and we were at the start of our route. It was still snowing and it was much harder than before. But nobody complained – that was much better than heavy rain.

Our journey has begun from the railway station of village Tsuman'; and the route was Tsuman'–Berestyane–Holonevychi. In other words it was 35 km one way. It took us 4 hours to get to the confluence because of slippery road and lots of snow during the trip. Confluence was in 986 meters from a road in a field, close to someone’s farm.

We held the same track to go back to the railway station of Tsuman', but this time it took us one hour less. In general we’ve rode about 70 km there and back. I think everybody was satisfied with conquering this confluence. That was a nice pastime :)
